We have adopted a non-traditional approach to Bible education. Most Bible colleges have four or more years of instruction broken into categories such as: theology, NT Survey, OT Survey, English, Western Civilization, Pastoral Care, Missions, Original Languages, Science electives, Church Music, and more.
There is nothing wrong with that approach. Many Christian workers have successfully been educated that way and will continue to do so.
However, it can be a long and expensive process. And, sometimes, it is disconnected from practical ministry in the trenches.
Research has also shown that over 85% of all Bible college or seminary graduates are “out” of the ministry within five years. Seriously, 85%! Surely, we as the body of Christ can do better than this.
A NEW IDEA…
We have chosen to take the most important topics and lessons of a 4-year Bible college and boil them down into 52 class sessions spread over four semesters. Each lecture has a component of:
- Bible
- Theology
- History
- Evangelism
- Practical Ministry
- And more…
Thus, instead of semesters long class sessions of one topic, a student will get slices of the most important topics in each lecture around a key Biblical passage. He will be taught the important lessons of Bible interpretation (hermeneutics) and apply them immediately to his own life, calling, and current church involvement.
These lectures will be supplemented with topical seminars, videos, and homework.
Students will have real life opportunities for preaching, teaching, evangelism and discipleship.
Each student will also have a church mentor to pray for them and encourage them.
He will have a peer group to learn with and do ministry with.
In the end the student will have a diploma of Bible and practical ministry to use in the area in which he feels called.
Of course, he can always further his education using the building blocks laid through DMBI.
